Week 4B
One website I visit frequently is https://www.netflix.com. This website is effective because it's an online streaming platform for documentaries, movies and tv shows. On Netflix, the top of their page has the tabs you would need to pick a category, TV or Movies, as well as your picks and the latest releases. As you scroll through, you see all the different genres you can pick from such as Comedy, Horror, Soapy and even a continue watching which helps when you want to go back to where you left off. Their design is so unique because of the combination of colors, red and black and how easy it is to navigate around. I enjoy coming back to Netflix and using it over and over because it's efficient, it draws me in and it has what I'm looking for. One thing I wish they would consider adding is a tab of all the upcoming releases and trailers so you know what to look forward to.
Another website I have visited is https://www.target.com/. I believe Target's website is effective because they try to stay with trends and keep it efficient. Not only can you find what your looking for through the search, they also have tabs with everything you can think of from their deals to investor relations. On their website, you can access what products are trending the most and what's new. I like that Target also uses two colors for the color scheme, red and white and sticks to one font. I come back to this website because I appreciate how much effort they put into making it worth our time. I have found tons of information that I didn't know about Target such as their goals, values and profits. One thing that could improve their website is adding a chat box. I have noticed that tons of websites are incorporating this to make for easy communication. Although you can find everything you need on their website, it doesn't hurt to add this to help benefit their customers more.
During this research, I learned that it's important for a business to share who they are and what they do right off that bat on their website for potential customers/clients. Having bright colors and simple fonts are another big factor in having a successful website. The goal for website owners should always be making it easy for customers to navigate because even if they find it easy to access themselves, doesn't mean everyone will. Incorporating a chat box or another quick way of communication plays a big factor for customers who need help. There has been countless of times where I appear on a website and have no way of contacting someone for help. After doing this activity, every website I open up, I think of what they have done well and what could be improved. Sometimes even sharing your opinions can help a website bring in more engagement.
