Week 16B
Ever since social media was released back in 2012, I have always been there each step of the way, enjoying all the creative content made and being able to efficiently communicate with anybody around the world. Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc, are all great platforms for any business to grow and benefit from. Virtually You is lucky enough to benefit from what new technology advancements we have in the world today.
Social Media has only changed in a way that more business are now relying on these platforms to spread awareness and promote their service/product. It's pretty similar to what people use social media for; for personal reasons. People want to promote themselves or "sell" themselves to the world to get the most out of it such as likes and followers. My viewpoint on social media has always been the same. It creates new opportunities but it also can be an addiction. If we spend all our time so focused on social media and ways to get the most followers, we are not better than any other content influencer spending 24/7 trying to take that "perfect post-worthy photo." I do believe there is more to life and a business then social media.
I understand that businesses are able to develop more efficiently with the use of social media. Any business is able to connect with other similar businesses for news/information. However, businesses need to stay on top of their social media by having a set schedule and content that flows. If a business decided to post randomly, they are going to be seen as not very organized and won't much room to grow. Whereas a business who has a set schedule and content for the week already created, they are more likely going to thrive in the social media world of business. Engagers like to see content that will connect them to a memory or make them laugh/interested.
There are a ton of business social media accounts that I am following personally. For instance Urban Outfitters, Stitch Fix, Target, and Casetify (phone cases) are all businesses that create content that would benefit Virtually You if we found a similar way to connect to an audience. I can see potential growth for Virtually You by finding the right businesses that could become part of a collaboration. For instance, since Virtually You is exclusively online, if we did a one day event collaboration with Urban Outfitters, we could have a pop up shop in UO with limited edition Virtually You products.
This class has really taught me a lot about social media and what goes on behind the scenes of a running business. I am now able to use the tools that can only benefit my business or my personal account such as Google Analytics, LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram insights, Hootsuite, etc. Social Media is really a blessing because with it we have the advantage to communicate with anybody in the world, shop from a click of a button, even search up anybody or anything. It's what connects us all and what can really bring your name into existence.
